What exactly is jackfruit and where does it come from?
The jackfruit tree is native to India and belongs to the Mulberry family. It's fruits are among the largest in the world, since a jackfruit can weigh up to 40 kg and be up to a metre long! In Asia, jackfruit is beloved, and we have also fallen for the giant fruit. We offer different versions of the fruit in our shop, notably our dried jackfruit. And jackfruit is also delicious when unripe: young jackfruit is peeled and used as a vegetable in all types of dishes. The texture of young jackfruit is reminiscent of chicken, making our young jackfruit pickled in brine a spectacular vegan meat alternative.
Jackfruit: flavour and use
The taste of jackfruit is hard to put into words, so you really must try it for yourself. Our customers describe the taste as a "mix of mango, banana, sweet and crunchy". While you can use fresh and pickled jackfruit in many dishes, the crisps are best when snacked straight from the bag. This crunchy version of jackfruit is also a great addition to your bowls and salads. Looking for a present or something to take along to the next party? Mix things up with a bag of jackfruit crisps!

The home of jackfruit is in the south of India, but nowadays it is cultivated in all tropical areas of the world. The fruit belongs to the mulberry family and is considered a staple food in the countries of origin. Increasingly, raw jackfruit is also consumed in Western countries, as the fibrous consistency is very popular as a vegan meat substitute. India is the main producer, with around 1,436,000 tons per year.i
Production
