Tortellini or tortelloni – what is the difference?

No, "tortelloni" doesn't contain any spelling error, it is actually a different type of pasta. Tortelloni are a bit larger than tortellini and traditionally contain a vegetarian filling of ricotta and spinach, while tortellini are smaller and are classically made with meat on the inside. Nowadays, you'll find both pastas in dozens of different flavours. There is an interesting myth about tortellini: their shape is supposed to have been copied from the belly button of the Goddess of Love, Venus.

Preparing KoRo's vegan tortellini

Preparing our pumpkin and apple tortellini is super easy: bring 2.5 litres of lightly salted water to a boil (we recommend 1 tea spoon of salt per litre). Add your pasta and let cook for 12 to 15 minutes. Done! Alternatively, you can prepare your tortellini in a pan, which is a bit faster and just as delicious. You can then decide what happens to your favourite pasta: is it going to become part of a tasty salad, are you mixing it with some fresh peas or is it going in the oven with a thick layer of cheese on top? There are countless ways to serve tortelloni — no matter whether vegetarian, vegan or omnivore. Our favourites are the classic bacon and cream or cheese and cream, baked in the oven, sautéd in a pan with sage and butter, covered in carbonara or bolognese sauce and some spinach or simply with a classic tomato and basil sauce. Tortellini are also very tasty with our pesto verde.
