Risoni, kritharaki or pasta rice – orzo has many names

If you haven't heard of the name orzo, you may know it as risi, risoni, kritharaki, Greek pasta or simply pasta rice. Orzo has many names, but they all stand for small noodles in the shape of a grain of rice. In Greek and Italian cuisine, the pasta rice is often used for giouvetsi, risotto or as a soup garnish. But you can also use orzo to prepare vegetable casseroles, pasta salads or one-pot pasta. The preparation is no different from conventional pasta: simply cook the desired amount of pasta in salted boiling water for 7-8 minutes until al dente. Stir occasionally during cooking. Then drain and serve. Depending on the dish, you can also toss the orzo in a little melted butter or olive oil.

Our orzo is ready within 7-8 minutes. To do this, add 100 g of orzo to a litre of salted boiling water and stir occasionally until the orzo has reached your preferred bite size. Then drain and toss in a little butter or oil to taste.
The organic orzo is made of 100% durum wheat semolina. This is also the difference between orzo and ordinary rice: orzo looks like rice and taste like pasta.
You can cook typical rice dishes with our orzo, but you don't have to give up your beloved pasta. They taste delicious in mixed salads, as a soup garnish, a quick risotto, as a casserole, with sauce or as a side dish. How about an orzo salad with fresh and dried tomatoes, rocket, pine nuts, basil, salt, pepper and mozzarella or parmesan for warm summer evenings? Or a lemon orzo soup with (vegan) chicken, vegetables, chickpeas, olive oil, lemon and spices for rather cold days? And if you're in a hurry, why not try orzo as a side dish with our vegan chicken in coconut curry sauce or our tomato sauce with aubergine?
Our orzo looks like rice, but taste like pasta and is made from 100% durum wheat semolina from organic farming.  You can easily prepare classic rice dishes with the rice-shaped pasta. In addition to their versatility, orzo, which is also called risoni, kritharaki or pasta rice — is also a source of fibre (3.1 g/100 g) and protein (12 g/100 g). Risoni hasn't been eaten for a long time...

... I am thrilled. Fits into so many things: soup garnish, stew garnish or simply with a little butter or oil.
